Puy du Fou accelerates local growth
Puy du Fou in the UK will represent an initial £300 million investment in Cherwell, which will be doubled over 10 years. Our contribution to the local economy will go far beyond this initial investment by working with local suppliers and providers to root the project in the area.
We will help expand the existing local and regional cultural and tourism offer, encouraging visitors to Bicester, Cherwell and Oxfordshire to stay longer and do more. We anticipate 50,000 overnight stays in the area in Year 1, with up to 400,000 overnight stays by Year 10.
At our existing attractions we work with a network of local suppliers for everything from construction to business services, and have formed long-term partnerships with local farmers to provide the majority of the food sold in our restaurants. We will do the same in the UK.
Our track record shows that for every £1 spent in Puy du Fou, £3.20 will be spent in the wider local area for the benefit of town businesses: hotels, B&B, restaurants, services, and shops. This amounts to more than a £400 million annual boost to the economy by Year 10.
Puy du Fou delivers employment opportunities
Puy du Fou in the UK will employ 700 people, plus create as many as 2,000 new indirect jobs at hotels, suppliers and other local businesses, from its first year of opening. After 10 years, the investment is expected to be doubled, and the number of jobs multiplied by three.
We will provide vocational training and partner with local colleges and universities to attract young people and graduates, as well as offering a range of job opportunities for older workers.
Puy du Fou champions education
We want to provide a unique education offer that allows children to ‘live their history’ thanks to links to school educational programmes. Interactive workshops will be provided for schools onsite on history, heritage, culture and nature in partneship with local educational champions.
